No.
The basics of flight are not dependent on any particular season.
Airports , however, do not function year-round and especially less so in the winter.

This is what I say to everyone who whines about airlines and travel like this: "Really? The airlines aren't good enough for you? The 100 years of development haven't satisfied the needs of your holiness? Well, go make your own then. I'd like to see how that works out." (Vaguely copied from a clip of a comedian I saw once). The truth is, airplanes are fucking amazing. The demands on airports, airlines, TSA, etc are ridiculous, and every one of those entities is scraping by on a pitiful budget while costs continue to rise. Sure, some little things could be improved here and there, but most people don't seem to realize how colossal a task it is to begin with. If it's too expensive or you can't handle waiting a few hours, just don't fly. Hell, you could pretend airlines don't exist and cross the country in your speedy and luxurious covered wagon. Good luck.

Oy. Between the major US airlines there are over 1 million people traveling by air a day. A day. The vast majority do it safely and on time. A storm hits an area and people get upset because of the disruption?

Ah yes that's the one! As cynical as he is, there's something refreshing about his outlook on these things. In my mind it got tangled up with his bit about cell phones. Oh, must be because they were in the same clip.
